New Night Shelter!!

Praise the Lord!! We have a night shelter now where homeless men can sleep. Two men who had been living in the desert are now running it! The night manager is Pete who is a Viet Nam veteran and gourmet chef!! He cooks meals when the day shelter is closed on weekends and holidays so now we serve meals EVERYDAY even on holidays!!! Daniel is the maintenance manager and takes care of all the cleaning, maintenance and landscaping. Gary still runs the day shelter, cooking meals, etc. Monday through Friday. We have shower and laundry facilities available as well as a clothes closet . . . all free to the neediest folks in our area. We thank God for all of you who help us!! We get no government support (don't want it) so we trust God to provide ALL our needs through wonderful people like YOU!! Our Staff

Gary Myers is the fulltime Kitchen Manager and Jack of all trades!! He is the secretary, maintenance man, computer operator, cook, guitar player, etc.
We also have a number of faithful volunteers: Sandy and Teri who do all kinds of things: food/clothing, secretarial, office work, etc. Susan who does computer work, Teri and Robert (servers), Al (cook and server), Kelli (cooks at home), and others. PTL!!
Pete manages the Night Shelter and cooks meals on weekends and holidays. Daniel is in charge of maintenance, cleaning the night shelter, and yard work for the whole campus. We now own three buildings and are renting another. Debt free. PTL!!
We have openings for other volunteers in computer work, clothing, fundraising, canned food drives, etc. Call 575-437-7880 and leave a message if you want to serve the Lord at the HOP. You will be blessed!!

Homeless Mission

When we opened our doors in 1999, we held regular prayer meetings at the HOP. As well as praying for our city, our nation, the church and many other things, we prayed for the needy, especially the homeless. When you pray, God often makes you part of the solution!! So when someone would come and ask for food, we fed them. We could not turn them away! We opened cans of beef stew and packages of crackers and fed the hungry. We opened a clothing closet, too. Finding that the homeless had no place to take a shower, we built one for them!Thus began our ministry to the homeless.
We are a day shelter and offer 2 meals a day, Monday through Friday. On Friday, we give canned foods for the weekend to those living in tents, vehicles or abandoned houses with no utilities. We now have laundry facilities, too. With the addition of our night shelter, we now offer meals weekends and holidays as well.
